Potemkin
Project Overview
Potemkin is a coastal Eastern European map built for World of Tanks: War Stories, the story-driven single-player campaign mode featuring dramatic historical missions. Inspired by the Black Sea port cities and their historic naval fortifications, the map features stepped waterfront terraces, harbor infrastructure, elegant 19th-century architecture, and layered elevation that supports the cinematic pacing of scripted mission encounters.
Role
As Senior Environment Artist on Potemkin, I contributed to look development, lighting, optimization, map loading screen and minimap design, terrain sculpting, foliage placement, and set dressing across the map. My work focused on capturing the grand, historic character of an Eastern European port city while supporting the narrative and encounter pacing of War Stories' single-player campaign.
Key Contributions
- Owned cross-play environment visual development on Potemkin for World of Tanks: War Stories — from initial block-out through shipped mission environment
- Led conversion of World of Tanks PC maps to Xbox 360 and Xbox HD-capable console builds, adapting fidelity and asset budgets to each hardware target
- Produced environment assets, foliage, terrain, animations, lighting, and UI for the map end-to-end
- Managed environment deliverables against release milestones for the War Stories campaign
- Optimized environments to fit the memory footprint of current-and-last-gen consoles via level streaming and per-hardware asset allocation
